  AIVault - writing memos

Previous  Previous (6 of 9) Next  Next

QUESTION:
What makes "Add New Memo" and "Edit Memo" different?

ANSWER:
These two different tasks use the same Edit Form, but behave differently.

In "Edit Memo" mode, saving changes will delete the original Memo in its Memo Folder, and save the new version of the Memo. The position of the Memo in the Memo Folder can also be specified. A convenient feature is that Alt+Right Arrow and Alt+Left Arrow will move the Edit Form to other Memos in a Memo Folder you are browsing.

When editing a Memo, "Edit/Move Memo in . . . " will appear in the header of the AIVault program. Also, the background in the edit boxes will be a khaki color when not being used.

In "Add New Memo" mode, a new Memo is created when the SAVE button is clicked. If changes are then made in the Edit Form, clicking the SAVE button again will create another new Memo (if sufficiently unique). The position of the new Memo in the Memo Folder can be specified. Alt+Right Arrow or Alt+Left Arrow will change the Edit Form to "Edit Memo" mode and move the Edit Form to other Memos in a Memo Folder you are browsing.

When adding a new Memo, "Adding new Memo to . . . " will appear in the header of the AIVault program. Also, the background in the edit boxes will be a light gray color when not being used.
